How to Clean and Restore Used LEGO Bricks
Used LEGO bricks are a great way to expand your collection, but they can sometimes arrive dusty, sticky, or even discolored. Here’s how to bring them back to life without damaging your pieces.
1. Hand Wash with Mild Soap
Fill a basin with warm water (not hot) and add a small amount of mild dish soap. Gently scrub the bricks with a soft brush or cloth. Avoid soaking electronic parts like LEGO Power Functions.
2. Use a Mesh Bag for Bulk Cleaning
If you’re cleaning a large batch, place the bricks in a mesh laundry bag and swish them in soapy water. Rinse well and air dry on a towel.
3. Remove Stickers Carefully
Peel stickers slowly, using a drop of rubbing alcohol to loosen stubborn residue. Avoid harsh chemicals that may damage the plastic.
4. Whiten Yellowed Bricks
Yellowing can be reduced by carefully using a hydrogen peroxide solution and sunlight exposure. Always test on a small area first.
